Squeeze out the juice from 1/2 orange, cut the other half into slices. Slice the lemon. Cut the vanilla bean in half lengthwise and scrape out the seeds, reserve the remaining vanilla pod.
Add all ingredients except the brandy to a medium pot. Cover the pot and heat the wine over lowest heat, for about 20-30 minutes, until very hot but not simmering or boiling.
Remove the pot from the heat and add the brandy. Ladle your mulled wine to heatproof glasses, serve warm.
Notes
The wine can be strained and kept in the fridge for 2-3 days
