It is hard to believe that it has been more than a decade since McKayla Maroney won Silver in the vault and Gold in the team event at the 2012 Olympics.
Sadly, her career ended not long after the Olympics due to injury.
However, she had managed to make a name for herself, riding “the look” to fortune and fame.
Going Viral
During the Olympics, McKayla went viral for her “not impressed” look…
The 2012 team was something special, known as the “Fierce Five.”
McKayla was heavily favored for the individual gold in the vault, her specialty, and after winning silver, that look above became famous…
In addition to her Olympic medals, McKayla also has two world vault championships to her credit, having won in 2011 and 2013.
McKayla officially retired in 2016, shifting her focus from gymnastics to music, releasing several singles as well as making appearances on “Bones” and “Hart of Dixie.”
McKayla was also on the national stage for playing a role in the takedown of Larry Nassar, the scumbag coach that was sexually abusing U.S. Women’s Team gymnasts for years…
For her role in that, she and the other victims were awarded the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.
