If you want to go out pub crawling at this bar in Georgia, the country which used to be part of the Soviet Union, that is – not the state in America, you might want to be prepared to do some crawling. Especially, if you’re afraid of heights. Experienced travelers recommend something potent to steady your nerves before you start.
An exclusive diamond shaped bar
If you drive about two hours from the city of Tbilisi, which sits in the southern part of Georgia, until you get to Dasbashi Canyon, an interesting waterhole for adult intoxicants awaits. The bar is shaped like a massive diamond, suspended 492 feet above the bottom of the gorge.
The way it is suspended is with a glass bridge stretching 787 feet, or 240 meters, (whichever comes first) from bank to bank. By the time you get to the safety of the structure in the middle, you’ll need a strong libation. The hosts are ready to sell it to you.
An investment firm called the Kass Group, operating in both Israel and Georgia, commissioned the construction. What their architects came up with was a “huge transparent structure,” crafted of steel and glass “which rises to 280 meters (around 919 feet).”

It “stretches across the natural monument, offering panoramic views of its stunning waterfalls and caves.” The important part is the bar. You can be certain to find a whole herd of unicorns on their top shelf.
It took about three years to string all the cables and build the complex structures involved. When it was done, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili was there for the official opening, on June 14.
You can bet he took an extra long tour of the “diamond shaped” bar. Visitors get dizzy from the height before they ever touch a drink.

Guinness checking for records
The stand out feature of the bridge, everyone agrees, is the “multi-level bar, located at its highest point.” It’s claimed to be “the largest and tallest hanging structure in the world.” It’s not official yet.
They’ll happily pour you a pint of Guinness while they explain that they submitted the paperwork and they’re waiting for confirmation from the World Record book keepers.
Another interesting fact the bar tender will share is that the project cost around $40 million. That’s why he’ll also be glad to sell you tickets to ride a bike across the canyon on a zip line. There is also a “cliff swing.”

Soon, accommodations will come to the complex in the form of “an array of guest suites located near the site.” They expect those to open “in the coming months.”
A spokesperson for the management explains that “the shape of the bar was actually inspired by the canyon itself.” The aim, Tomer Mor Yosef notes, “was to create an extreme, exciting, and unforgettable moment that would arouse all five senses of the guests and will manage to stay imprinted in their memory.” Walking across that bridge will be an unforgettably memorable experience.
At least, the part until you get to the bar will be. That’s when the blackout starts and you don’t remember a thing the next day. You’re friends will be happy to tell you how they dragged you whimpering back to the car. Thankfully, they put opaque panels in between the transparent ones.
