There’s a misconception with some anglers that big fish can only be caught from big waters.
That’s why many of the world’s most popular bass waters are also some of the largest lakes and streams in the world.
Even smaller waters that are heavily fished by the public can hold giant fish, so you just need a little patience to find and catch them. That’s what YouTuber Ty PigPatrol proves here. He’s fishing this pond in the late fall.
A fresh influx of fresh runoff is flowing into several spots of the pond, despite the low water levels.
Ty begins working these areas with his jig, realizing these areas could be a magnet for hungry bass.
While he catches some smaller bass, it takes a while before he hooks a true giant. The most impressive part of this catch is how close his lure was to shore when the fish struck.
In the fall, many people switch into hunting mode, but Ty shows that anglers who stick with it can still catch giant bass.
The other advantage of fishing later in the year, as you saw here, was that he had the whole pond to himself.
It turned out that Ty’s hunches about the bass holding in the areas that saw new water run off were correct. Keep this tip in mind next time you decide to go fishing after a rainstorm.
Bass are drawn to these areas after a rain mainly due to cooler water drawing in baitfish. Where the baitfish go, the predators will follow. Another awesome catch from Ty.
