Miami designer Joel Alvarez is back with his models dressed in nothing but very strategically placed adhesive body tape.
Alvarez is the talk of the town at New York Fashion Week thanks to his infamously risqué “swimsuits” made of body tape.
The designer debuted the unique creations at an Art Hearts Fashion show during Paraiso Swim Week in July of 2021 in Miami Beach, where he managed to raise eyebrows in one of the sexiest cities in America.
Alvarez first made headlines in 2017, when he dressed up Miss Puerto Rico in gold metallic tape for a photoshoot for a charity event in Haiti. The glittery design went viral almost instantly.
“My emails, DMs and phone blew up with requests for TV and radio interviews, articles in national news outlets as well as magazines,” said the fashion photographer turned designer. “I was so shocked.”
Luckily for these women, this isn’t your average tape. Alvarez uses a special kind of adhesive that is specifically designed for skin, and doesn’t leave any residue when removed.
