Yachts

This 508 footer sleeps 65 and is manned by a crew of 140 and is owned by the Sultan of Oman and serves as his Royal Yacht. She travels under the escort of the Omani Navy. Naturally, as the transport of a head of state, there isn’t much public information about her but according to WealthyGorilla “it has a large concert hall that’s big enough to house a 50-piece orchestra.”, she can allegedly reach a top speed of 22 knots.

8. Radiant – $320 Million

Yachts

The Radiant is owned by Emirate Billionaire Abdulla Al Futtaim, but was originally designed for Russian media tycoon Boris Berezovsky and the specs he built this to are INSANE. Boat International writes,

“As well as the standard features for a yacht of this size – helipad, gymnasium, cinema, spa – she has one of the highest security specifications ever conceived. Berezovsky ordered a personal “escape launch” – a speedboat with turbo-charged twin diesel engines capable of exceeding 75 knots. She is also equipped with an arsenal of sonic guns that fire low-frequency sound waves that can burst the eardrums of approaching assailants, and a military water cannon capable of sinking an approaching boat at more than 100 yards.”

Unbelievable! She sleeps up to 20 guests and 44 crew members and features multiple swimming pools, a helipad, a massage room, a swimming platform, a movie theatre, a gym, and a jacuzzi. That flower has thorns!

7. Dubai – $400 Million

Yachts

The Dubai as one might expect, is owned by the Sheik of Dubai, Mohammed Rashid al-Maktoum as another transport of a head of state it is sumptuously appointed with jacuzzis, a swimming pool with handmade tiles, a helipad and a striking circular glass staircase which changes colour when lit from above.

Superyachtfan reports, “Dubai can accommodate 48 guests in 24 cabins. And she has a crew and staff of 88.” amazingly the yacht is equipped with an actual submarine kept in an onboard garage!

6. Motor Yacht A – $440 Million

Yachts

Motor Yacht A can accommodate 14 guests and 42 crew members and is around 400 feet long.

Designer Phillipe Starck told Boat International, “When I designed this boat, no one was using the front, and I thought it was a fantastic place because you have the sea and you’re out of the exhaust. But people would say to me ‘but there is wind and there are waves’. Yes! That is why we are on a boat. If you don’t want that, buy an apartment, build a house. We want the wind, we want the waves, we want to see the sea. We want to see the violence, the beauty of the sea, the majesty of the sea.”

She features a 2,500 sqft master bedroom, a disco, a helicopter hanger, a separate 30-foot speedboat, and a glass-bottomed swimming pool.

5. Topaz – $527 Million

Yachts

Number Five is the superyacht Topaz and it’s yet another owned by the Dubai Royals in this case: Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. She carries 64 Guests and can reach a top speed of 25 knots.

Like many yachts of a similar size, she offers a large jacuzzi on the main deck, a swimming pool, double helicopter landing pads, and a state-of-the-art gym, cinema, and conference room.

4. Azzam – $600 Million

The Yacht Azzam owned by the Emir of Abu Dhabi is the longest yacht currently in service and has the curiosity one would associate with another head of state’s private ship: A rumored bullet-proof suite!

Super Yacht Fan writes,

“She is rumored to feature a bullet-proof master suite and a missile defense system. Azzam was delivered to her owner in October 2013. In March 2014 she was heading back to the Lurssen yard in Bremen. For some post-delivery works.

May 2014 update: pretty new photos made by ship-dreams.de of Azzam at the Lurssen yard. Also, an amazing new video of Azzam sailing back to the yard, see hereunder.”

3. Streets of Monaco – $1 Billion

And now we come to it: the Billion Dollar Streets of Monaco is designed to resemble precisely that, the streetscape of ‘the billionaire’s playground’ the sovereign city-state on the French Riviera. At 508- feet long her rooms were inspired by a Monte Carlo Casino and can house 16 guests with a  crew of 70 and is truly something to be admired.

AutoEvolution said, “The idea began with Mediterranean principles of architecture and lifestyle and does include a racetrack, which allows for up to three carts to race simultaneously. Some famous architectural landmarks have been replicated and sized down to fit atop the vessel, giving you a real feel that you’re are not at all at sea.”

2. Eclipse – $1.5 Billion

The Eclipse may not block out the Sun, but she certainly brings her own radiance to the seas and any port of call, but she possibly could at the right angle to the horizon. At 524 feet long it would figure. The designer Terry Disdale said, “To be given free rein is actually a dreadful thing,” says Disdale.  “I asked myself what I wanted: something timeless. How do you design something timeless that’s still going to look good and not be anaemic? It’s so easy to get carried away, but you’ve got to be able to look at it in 20 years and decide it still looks OK.” The client was sure of two things though, they wanted to carry more than one helicopter and they wanted an epic pool.

Eclipse is a handsome boat, and it looks like a boat. It doesn’t make any pretence,” he says. “The key word is elegance. Very few boats can make that claim any more. Modern boats are purposeful, aggressive, macho, which has led to them all having snub noses. They look angry. You could paint them grey and stick a cannon on the front and it wouldn’t upset their stance at all. Eclipse is not like that.”

1. History Supreme – $4.8 Billion

And finally, the most expensive yacht ever sold… the $4.8 billion History Supreme. She was purchased by an Anonymous Malaysian business, and according to Luxury Launches. The Daily Mail reports that the impressive vessel took three years to complete and used over a staggering 220,462 pounds of precious metals. Everything – from the base of the boat, to the deck, dining area, rails and anchor – were decked out in gold and platinum.” Yes, we’ve reached the point of ‘so expensive it’s stupid’. The ‘Anonymous’ owner is rumoured to be Robert Kuok, and Atlantic Yacht And Ship explained that, “The exorbitant price tag is also the result of the lavish master bedroom, adorned in platinum with a wall feature that is made from meteoric stone and a genuine T-Rex dinosaur bone.” Seriously… a meteor… and a DINOSAUR. Are we sure this wasn’t designed for a kid obsessed with Jurrasic Park who grew up and hit it rich?
