
Amaretto Poached Pears
Ingredients
- 6 pears
- 1.5 cup Amaretto
- 3 tbsp light brown sugar
- whipped cream or mascarpone optional
Instructions
- Peel the pears and gently remove the core from the bottom with a paring knife or a small spoon.
- Combine the Amaretto and brown sugar in a pot just big enough to fit the pears and bring to a boil. Add the pears, lower the heat, cover the pot, and simmer for 15 minutes. Turn pears every few minutes to ensure all sides absorb some of the Amaretto flavor. Remove pears and set aside.
- Increase the heat to high and boil the amaretto, uncovered, until it is reduced to ½ cup.
- Serve by standing a pear on a plate and drizzle with the reduced Amaretto sauce over the top. Add whipped cream or mascarpone cheese as desired on the side.
