Here at Whiskey And Babes, we’ve talked about Whiskey Flights and Whiskey Tours, but now a whole new animal has been added, and whiskey lovers the world over have a new thing to call their own. It’s being called the first-ever “Craft Whiskey Expo at Sea” and it is set to take place in the Spring of 2022 aboard the gargantuan Celebrity Millennium a 965′ Celebrity Cruise ship operated by Royal Caribbean Group that homeports out of Los Angeles. The expo will include representatives and samplings of up to twenty prominent whiskeys from around the world.

The four-night excursion will be between March 31 and April 4th, and will include onboard tastings, and seminars on every subset of whiskey lore you’ve ever wanted to know. For true usquebaugh scholars, there will be an optional onboard Whiskey School available.
According to ThePointsGuy,
“The four-night voyage is scheduled to call at Key West, Florida, where there’s talk of a bar crawl that also will include a visit to a local distillery and optional visit to a cigar factory, capped off with a group tasting of the locally famous Kermit’s Key Lime Pie on a Stick.
A second stop, in Nassau in the Bahamas, will offer those interested a chance to visit a cigar shop and a lounge visit with the Expo’s “cigar ambassador.”
“This is something I’ve wanted to do for awhile, but during the pandemic, the relationship between craft brands and consumers changed, becoming much more personal through the using of virtual tastings,” Whiskey Expo at Sea event director Amber Blecker, the creator of the program, told The Points Guy. “Consumers have become more involved and connected.”
Blecker added that she “wanted to create a longer form event [rather] than a simple festival so that brands and consumers could have an extended conversation and educational opportunity, with lots of fun… and of course whiskey!”
The Floating Whiskey Experience Of Our Own
Think about it… it’s almost like a Disney Cruise… for adults… with Whiskey!
Well… if you’ve read this far you had to figure it wasn’t going to be cheap. According to TravelAwaits, “Prices for the cruise start at $519 for an inside cabin up to $949 for an aqua class cabin. A $200 deposit is required at booking, with full payment due by January 14. There is also a $75 expo fee to take part in the alcohol portions of the cruise. This fee is not needed for those simply wanting the cruise experience or for anyone bringing minors along.” As eyewatering as the price tag might be, for a crowd that parts with four, six, and seven-digit sums for a bottle, it’s pretty accessible. For the entry-level connoisseurs, it might be better to enjoy a fine bottle of whiskey and save for next year.
“A first of its kind, Craft Whiskey Expo at Sea is putting enthusiastic whiskey and bourbon consumers together with the people behind exciting brands in a uniquely intimate setting,” organizers say. “This is so much more than just another bourbon festival.”
