Men in morally restrictive states are finding it much harder to access porn in 2025. Along with the new year come new laws. 17 states have officially blocked access to pornography. There’s a way around the digital security fence. That’s what those VPN Virtual Private Networks are for.

Porn requires privacy

Whether you’re personally for or against it, porn is here to stay. It’s also a huge business which generates a whole bunch of tax revenue.

Pornhub is only one of the affected adult content websites but they’re out in front, fighting for the rights of their customers.

As the new year begins, 17 states now require “age verification to enter adult websites.” While that sounds like a reasonable request, it isn’t. It requires verifying your identity along with your age.

The folks who enjoy watching porn don’t want anyone, especially advertisers, knowing what sorts of fetishes they like to browse. Having an ad for dungeon bondage gear pop up while your meek and timid wife can see your screen can be embarrassing.

Pornhub is going the extra mile. Instead of caving in and making their customers identify themselves before accessing the porn channels, they’re blocking all access from anyone in the restricted states. Similar providers are expected to take the same approach.

While that sounds harsh, its actually a reasonable response. For a fee, usually around $10 per month, Virtual Private Networks will mask your IP address. They’re not all the same, so check out a few before you decide which will best suit your needs.

Don’t submit your ID

If you’re unfortunate enough to live in Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Texas, Idaho, Indiana, Montana, Nebraska or Utah, you have a problem if you want to view porn.

Those states want you to submit age proving documents like driver’s license or passport. Aylo, the parent company of Pornhub, issued a statement in response. The law doesn’t have a chance of working, they note.

Aylo has publicly supported age verification of users for years,” they point out. They’re convinced “that any law to this effect must preserve user safety and privacy.

Nobody wants their porn preferences being tracked. At the very least, an intrusive law “must effectively protect children from accessing content intended for adults.” These ones mean well but don’t get the job done.

Unfortunately, the way many jurisdictions worldwide, including Florida, have chosen to implement age verification is ineffective, haphazard, and dangerous. Any regulations that require hundreds of thousands of adult sites to collect significant amounts of highly sensitive personal information is putting user safety in jeopardy.

There are enough porn consumers in those states that the loss of tax revenue from Pornhub and other companies in the industry will be a huge pinch. Hopefully, it will make the legislators change their mind and look for a better solution. Until then, watching porn may be inconvenient and a little more pricey but VPNs are an effective solution.
