Southern Draw Cigars has been burning the midnight oil long into the night for many years with the AJ Fernandez Cigar Co. adding a new Maduro core blend to their catalog of brands. And now we get to see why.
The new core blend is called EVENING PRIMROSE– the primrose is just one of the initial flowers to flower in spring and its name comes from the Latin word ‘primus’, which most recognize ways ‘initially’. Although it’s an early seasonal bloomer, it has a distinctive habit of exclusively revealing its blossoms in the evening, staying open till very early the next day. Their inspiration stemmed from the Oenothera pallida or light night primrose with its satiny white blossoms that leave visiting insects with a dusting of lemon-yellow pollen on their bodies.
The Boss Lady cultivates her garden as a sanctuary for, moths, and butterflies to gather plant pollen as well as now, she can observe them doing their work every night, with a flawlessly ripe, brand-new blend in hand.
There is just one way to appreciate this mix before its public release date, and that is with Cigars International where the business has included two (one time only) test sizes, 6.5 × 46 Lonsdale and 6.75 × 52 Perfecto in a box pressed format which has been added to the 12,000, Create-Your-Own CIGARfest— 64 Cigar– Deluxe Cigar Package, being offered at each of their retail locations between September 24th and also October 29th, 2022, and including 7 different events highlighting the SDC brand name.

The Evening Primrose has been adeptly box pressed and will be packaged in their faceted 10-quantity boxes, the same as that of the early Morning Glory, the Satin White color pattern of packages and multi-color stogie cigar were carefully selected by Sharon Holt, to show the refinement of the light evening primrose blooms as they reach for the light of the moon.
According to Cigar News, the regular production run of Evening Primrose is targeted for a first-quarter release in 2023.
The Cigar makers told the outlet,
“Through our AJF partnership we have continually achieved our lofty goal of consistency for each hand made cigar, blessed with exponential growth, our second goal of sustainability is now a key metric that demands extreme accuracy in planning and forecasting. We can currently produce approximately 1M cigars annually in the Rose of Sharon and Jacobs Ladder lines and we reached that plateau in 2021 and again in 2022, with that milestone comes the necessity of releasing the bookend Morning Glory and Evening Primrose blends!”
