Another luxury car company has joined the bandwagon for EVs and they’ve even set the ambitious goal of completely switching over to all electric vehicles in the coming years. Let’s take a look at this new sci-fi inspired ride.
Lexus, one of the major auto manufacturers, recently announced plans to completely electrify their lineup by 2035. This plan was unveiled at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, where two vehicles were presented as part of this transition – the LF-ZC and LF-ZL.
The acronym stands for Lexus Future Zero-emission Catalyst, but those are all the details that have been released about its internals. The exterior is very minimalistic with sharp body lines and a low profile.
Side mirrors have been replaced by cameras instead and on the inside, passengers will be treated to a large display for entertainment thanks to plenty of technology onboard. This includes DIRECT4 all-wheel drive technology which is currently used in Lexus’ only electric car and Arene OS system and AI “Butler” which can learn driver’s habits and needs.
Not much information has been revealed about this model so far other than some tantalizing promises such as Interactive Reality in Motion feature that can sense drivers and passengers pointing to give them information along with onboard sensors offering more features yet undisclosed.
It is no secret that electric cars are gaining traction among consumers worldwide due to their environmental benefits compared to traditional gas powered vehicles.
Lexus currently offers 12 models across its lineup with hybrid & performance trims available although only one of those models is fully electric – making it clear why they have set this ambitious goal of transitioning entirely over a decade from now.
With much more exciting reveals yet to come from Lexus in just a few years’ time, there’s no doubt they will reach this milestone sooner rather than later.
