Congratulations, New York City, you’ve made the list of the World’s Top 50 Most Luxurious Hotels to stay at. And while two of NYC’s luxury hotels made the cut, there were many others from countries around the world.
The World’s 50 Best Hotels of 2023 has just been revealed. An esteemed panel of 580 global hotel industry experts, travel journalists and hoteliers voted the stunning Passalacqua in Moltrasio, Italy as the top spot.
Two New York City hotels also made the list, with Aman New York (No. 25) and Equinox Hotel New York in Hudson Yards (No. 48).
Passalacqua is a beautiful resort overlooking Lake Como that opened its doors to guests in June 2022. Valentina De Santis, owner of the independent family-run hotel expressed her gratitude for this incredible recognition saying “it was beyond our wildest dreams” to get such an honor.
The 18th century villa was once owned by Pope Innocent XI and a well-known opera composer Vincenzo Bellini before being transformed into a 24-room boutique hotel with stunning grounds featuring 15 water fountains, bocce court, al fresco gym and tennis court for all to enjoy.
New York City earned two spots on this year’s prestigious list with Aman New York and Equinox Hotel making it onto the list at No. 25 and No. 48 respectively.
CEO Chris Norton of Equinox Hotels spoke about what this recognition means stating they are glad to be part of offering “an unparalleled experience for a community of high performers who want it all” while Aman declined to comment on their placement on the list due to privacy reasons.
This year’s fourth place went to Singita Lodges located in Kruger National Park in South Africa which also received the Eco Hotel Award for its sustainability efforts and dedication towards preserving nature for generations to come.
This small property is proof that size does not matter when it comes down to quality service – something that can be said about many other small businesses out there today.
