Flying cars: something that is straight out of a sci-fi movie and a far off dream for many individuals out there. Well, now that dream is about to become a reality!
Alef Aeronautics unveiled the world’s first flying car at the Detroit Auto Show. Everyone was wowed by this swanky prototype that looks like a standard sedan. The Model A is expected to go into production in two years and come with a hefty $300,000 price tag when released.
Alef Aeronautics’ founder and CEO Jim Dukhovny originally imagined that his flying car would help people save time stuck in traffic. Little did he know how popular his invention would become.
This fully electric vehicle can be driven up to 200 miles on public roads or launch vertically into the air with a range of 110 miles. The cabin rotates so passengers can get their bearings while soaring through the sky and offers a “cinematic” 180-plus degree view of their surroundings.
On top of all that, it fits in any parking space or garage and has easy-to-learn controls – Dukhovny claims you could learn how to fly and drive it within 15 minutes if you already understand directions.
Before Alef Aeronautics could start mass producing its revolutionary Model A, they had to get approval from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). In June 2020, they were awarded Special Airworthiness Certification so they could test their car both on public roads and in the air.
It’s reassuring to know that safety is being taken seriously before we have flying cars zipping around everywhere.
Alef Aeronautics’ Model A might seem too good to be true – but it really isn’t! Flying cars are becoming reality sooner than we thought possible, thanks to the hard work of entrepreneurs like Jim Dukhovny who are determined to make transportation easier for everyone.
We just have to wait another couple years until these vehicles hit markets across America – then buckle up for an exciting ride into our future driving experience.
