As is so often the case, the best food humanly possible often comes in the most unassuming of structures… the least pretentious, the most down-to-Earth. Because when the food is that damned good, the rest really doesn’t matter all that much. And quite similarly some of the fanciest failures forget that the food should’ve come first. You’ll find no such problem at the best BBQ spot in the South according to many, (it’s a very debatable topic). Check Out Goldee’s Bar-B-Q in Fort Worth, Texas.
Simple, Beautiful, Southern BBQ
Lane Milne, Dylan Taylor, and Jonny White are the founders of the feast at Goldee’s, named for the old golden hued Ford F-250 which once pulled their first pit around from place to place. For seven years since getting their 2013 start these men trained in 8 of the Texas Monthly Top50 barbecue joints and shared a dream according to their feature in D Magazine and their website. And to build up the capital to launch their own legacy they taught classes and hosted pop-ups with old Goldee and their pit in tow for countless hours in a labor of love. Over this time they dialed in their smoking technique and some down home sides.. and soon enough Goldee’s was born. Nupohn Inthanousay and Jalen Heard are owners alongside Milne, Taylor and White.
Boastiing two and a half hour waits from hungry customers and selling out before the days end, it can be a little hard to get it sometimes! But don’t be discouraged, one reviewer on Facebook wrote, “The food here is phenomenal! First time here, we got a piece of every meat and every side they have along with the Banana Pudding. It was totally worth the wait. We got into line at 9:30 and was served at 12. The brisket melts in your mouth. The beef ribs were hands down the best I’ve ever had. The cole slaw is amazing. The staff are very friendly and inviting. I recommend Goldee’s above any BBQ out there. Im excited that they’re right down the road from me.”
This one is not to be missed.
