Back in 2017, Rolls-Royce introduced the “Series II” Phantom. It’s been updated for the 2023 model year, featuring “changes to the grille and side profile, new wheels and more.” The engineers continued their “fascination with creative uses of light.” This model features a “night-sky Starlight headliner.

Phantom a Rolls-Royce Classic

Originally introduced in 1925, the classic Phantom has reached it’s eighth generation without changing anything essential to it’s esteemed image. Once again, a large engine is joined to an “opulent interior with many custom touches and bespoke options.

Of course, elegant wooden drinks cabinets come standard in a vehicle which has been known to offer picnic tables as standard features.

The latest Series II Phantom will set you back at least $460,000 American dollars but nobody wants the stripped down version. You can expect to hand over $650,000 for the exclusive Platino but the subtle changes are well worth the investment.

This year’s model features “more prominently placed” grill work, thanks to a “geometric change.” The designers added “a new horizontal line between the daytime running lights.

If you so desire, your custom Phantom can come from the factory with “a darkened grill surround,” or even “blackout windshield surround, hood reins, and side frame finishers.” It has a sleeker silhouette this time around, too.

Another special feature this year is that the grill is illuminated, “complementing the laser-cut bezel starlights for the headlights.

More Privacy in back seat

Chauffeured Phantom owners will appreciate the widened C-Pillar, “giving more privacy to back-seat occupants.” Also, a “split-belt” line “starts at the front fender and curves gradually to the back door, then falls to the rear lamps.

Anyone who buys one automatically gets “a direct connection to the ‘Whispers’ private-members app, offering navigation to sponsored destinations.

A quick check of the app “reveals the car’s location, security condition and state of health. If the latter is troubling, another button summons the nearest dealership.

Historic Rolls-Royce cars were factory equipped with locks to prevent anyone but a Rolls mechanic from working on them. The Phantom may suggest it, but you have the option to provide, God forbid, your own mechanic.

As with the Bentley brands, Rolls-Royce is “emphasizing its bespoke capabilities, encouraging customers to design their own car.” That’s exactly why they introduced the silver-white Phantom Platino. They note “further exploration of the interior’s fabric possibilities.

While the front seats are in classic leather, “the rear combines Italian silken textile with a bamboo-derived fiber.” Also, rear accommodations are offered in contrasting colors. Even more exclusive is the Boat Tail coachbuilt design. That one is “completely hand-built, with body panels fashioned from single sheets of aluminum,” inspired by 1920s racing yachts.
