If you’re a dedicated enthusiast of the right to arm bears, then you want the sort of man cave Matt Collins has to hibernate in. He spent a cool $1 million on the construction of an underground bunker, complete with shooting range and bowling alley. The John Wick theme prevails, from a classic arcade pinball machine to his custom made gun safe, “outfitted with a leather sofa, multiple guns, and several knives” to match the one in the thriller “Parabellum.”
Man cave with an attitude
Matt Collins recently gave the public a video tour of his man cave. You may know the dedicated gun enthusiast from his YouTube channel “The Collector.”
It took him a full 20 years to re-engineer the underground space “with every possible amenity to suit his unique lifestyle.” Like a bowling lane. “I’m not the best bowler, but I had to have it,” he explains. “Just felt like it was missing from the space.”
Guns aren’t the only thing Collins collects. He also acquired “a host of one-of-a-kind sports cars.” Scattered around his home are an assortment of rare arcade games.
The John Wick machine is in his man cave along with “his most talked-about possessions.” That would be “his priceless guns.” He can fire any one of them, any time he wants.
His man cave is still an ongoing project, he assures. His wife enjoys the in-home golf simulator at the bottom of the stairs. “I’ve got the original at my office, but this one—this one’s a game changer. It’s got a couple hundred games on it.”
He can play practically any course in the world without worrying about the weather or fighting for a tee time.
Along with a pool table and other standard man cave furnishings, he’s especially proud of his John Wick pinball machine. It’s his wife’s obsession, he claims. “She has to have everything ‘John Wick.‘” If you’re going to do it, do it right.
“This one’s serial No. 5, limited edition. It’s got all the bells and whistles. The updates are a pain, though. They delete my high scores—but hey, it’s part of the fun. When they update it, it changes the game completely, which is kind of cool. And yeah, it even connects to Wi-Fi.”
Guns, guns and more guns
Leading the way into the heart of his bunker, “this is where all the high-end guns go,” Collins declares. “I was tired of laying them on the floor.” That particular room in the cave “has custom storage to house the jewels of the collection.” It keeps his own family jewels safe too.
Collins points out that “it also doubles as a ‘bunker room‘ where he and his family can seek safety in the event of an attack or natural disaster.”
Keeping with his wife’s favorite theme, he has a custom made “John Wick” safe in his cave which set him back $100,000. Fans recognize that it’s “near-identical to one seen in the third installment of the movie franchise.”
The safe is “outfitted with a leather sofa, multiple guns, and several knives, all of which are custom-made to fit inside the marble interior.”
It turned out to be more rare than he imagined when he ordered it. They were only supposed to make 10 originally. The actual production is even more limited. They only made 4 and his was the last. “Post Malone has No. 1.”
Getting it into his man cave wasn’t easy. “It took eight guys to bring it in in a Bobcat. It was a lot of work. It has marble in it, it has the chair in it that rolls out, knives from the movie.“
