Jameson Just Released Something Truly Satisfying

Jameson

Following the release of their Cold Brew in 2020, the whiskey distilling giant of Pernod Ricard USA has released a second flavored expression in the brand’s core products with Jameson Orange a 30% ABV “whiskey-forward, differentiated liquid, with a subtle sweetness,” according to the company. While the proof is slightly lower than the standard 40% of Jameson, this expression is what the distillery calls their signature brand “made zesty”.

Jameson With a Citrus Zest Kick

IrishCentral wrote,

“Taste is at the heart of every sip of Jameson produced,” said Kevin O’Gorman, Master Distiller at Irish Distillers.

“Triple-distilled whiskey like ours involves a carefully crafted process, perfected since 1780. Jameson Orange builds on that craft and we are incredibly proud to share this exceptionally well-balanced Irish whiskey with both existing and new whiskey fans.”

“The concept behind Jameson Orange was to create a product that would appeal to a growing audience of flavored spirits fans and curious whiskey drinkers, drawing on the quality and integrity of our award-winning triple-distilled Irish whiskey,” said Sona Bajaria, Vice President of Marketing, Jameson at Pernod Ricard USA. “Citrus flavor profiles, particularly orange, have high appeal amongst spirits drinkers, making it a perfect profile to complement the smoothness”

The triple-distilled Orange liquid has a nose of zesty peel and orange juices with citrus and sweet whiskey undertones, a tase with a delicate smoother mouthfeel with distinct orange zest as well as spicy, nutty and sweet vanilla, finishing with a sweet orange aftertaste.

Kevin Gray of bevvy suggested, “The real application here—for my tastes, at least—is in simple cocktails. The brand suggests mixing Jameson Orange with Sprite or cranberry juice. I confess a general disdain for sugary sodas, but in the name of thorough research, I mixed it with Sprite anyway. The two-part drink was very sweet, but served over plenty of ice, it had a nostalgic Creamsicle note that kept me going back for a couple extra sips.”

Whilst some Uisge Baugh purists may be aghast at the old standard of Jameson being ‘polluted’ with flavored offerings, this new release combined with the global recognition of the Jameson brand may serve to draw a younger open-minded set of future whiskey lovers to the fold, something essential for the future of the industry.
