Because we live in a world that will unironically never under any circumstances have enough good pizza and beer, Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza & Taproom, a fast-casual franchise widely known in the midwest for oakwood fired pizza and their self-serve taproom is now set to double in size to 100 locations over the next five years, showing remarkable growth in an economy that has staggered many other establishments.
According to SnackAndBakery,
“The brand currently has five locations open and operating throughout Minnesota, Colorado, Nebraska, and Iowa. Offering one-of-a-kind franchising opportunities to continue its national expansion, Smokin’ Oak Pizza will open several locations during the first half of 2022 in Texas, Florida, Arkansas, and an additional location in Grand Junction, CO.”
Matt Mongoven explained “We aim to immerse all guests who walk in through our doors in an authentic Smokin’ Oak Pizza experience, We’ve set ourselves apart in this industry because our pizzas and other menu items are baked using 100% aged oak wood-fired cooking, which produces a smoky flavor that most other pizza concepts just can’t copy. It’s amazing to see how much our business has grown thus far and we are excited to continue this momentum into 2022 and beyond.”
The Birth Of The Oakwood Fired Pizza And Taproom
Mongoven after his 20-year-long career in retail banking tagged up with a life-long friend and restauranteur Linda Black decided to pursue their childhood dream and open a business together.
Together they created a dining experience offering a full menu of wood-fired pizza, sandwiches, salads, appetizers, and desserts centered around an oven fueled by oak wood that heats to 900 degrees. That means a typical pizza only takes about 2 minutes. Using fresh vegetables cheeses and meats, it’s fresh, fast, and casual. The taproom also offers 25-45 different beer, wine, and mixed drink options.
Two new taproom locations will be coming to the Dallas/Fort Worth area over the next two years and the company is looking forward to signing on additional development deals throughout the year in order to enter new markets via national franchising.
On SmokinOak’s Website they describe the franchise options,
“A Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza franchise perfectly meets the demand of today’s consumers for freshness of ingredients, speed of preparation, consistent and outstanding quality, and a great dining experience. A cross between fast-casual and sit down dining but at a fast-casual price point, Smokin’ Oak Wood-Fired Pizza has taken pizza and reinvented it for today’s consumers.
We cater to both a lunch crowd that has the “need-for-speed” as well as guests that desire a more leisurely dining experience while enjoying a glass or two of beer or wine with dinner.”
The franchise fee is reportedly $49,500 and the estimated initial investment to open a pizza location is $254,000–$682,800 with an additional $90,000–$180,000 to open a taproom (*varying depending on the number of taps.)
