China’s first ever ‘spaceship city’ has just opened for business, valued at the tune of $1 BILLION. The Chimelong Spaceship Theme Park, located in Zhuhai, China successfully had their soft launch and the pictures look really cool.
It is being hailed as the world’s largest indoor theme park and promises visitors an out-of-this-world experience with attractions such as a variety of roller coasters, deep sea submarine rides and an animal kingdom. Since its debut it has broken seven world records.
The 650m long structure eerily resembles an alien mothership and cost a whopping $1.1 billion to construct. Its sheer size alone is enough to put rivals off their top spot, making it one of the most expensive attractions ever seen. With 4,271,783 square feet of fun for wildlife fanatics and space-curious customers alike, it is truly something else entirely – not just in terms of expense but also in its groundbreaking features.
Spectators can get up close and personal with nearly 300 different species inside the flying saucer-like facility which houses more than 16 million gallons of water split across 38 different tanks. Visitors can peer into the world’s largest living coral reef exhibit or its humongous aquarium for a glimpse of the exotic sea life that lives there – including several orcas housed in the main tank which can generate waves up to 10ft high.
Not only that but this incredible destination also has the world’s largest marine science museum, orca exhibition pool, and shark display tank – so you’re definitely spoiled for choice when it comes to aquatic features.
But there’s plenty on offer for those who prefer sticking to dry land too. Thrill seekers can explore 15 themed zones filled with exciting rides including Warner Brother’s World Abu Dhabi rivaling Bermuda Storm – said to be the highlight attraction boasting 1,682sqm curved screen projected upon by 304 riders at once. There are 5D cinemas too plus educational environmental exhibitions and plenty of dining options – so you won’t want for anything here.
And if you really want to immerse yourself in your space odyssey adventure then why not check into the 1,250 room Chimelong Spaceship Hotel? With 26 floors complete with restaurants, swimming pools retail stores and conference rooms – you could stay forever if you wanted.
This incredible theme park was originally scheduled to open in 2021 yet construction wasn’t completed until last year. Despite this decade long planning period (and five years spent constructing), further work is still set to continue at this leisure facility well into 2027 when phase two will be ready – boasting an animal kingdom theme park mountain park cable cars amongst other things. The official opening date hasn’t been announced yet however, currently only local regions are permitted entry during its trial phase before everyone else gets let loose inside.
