This Stunning Ferrari ‘Hyperyacht’ is BADASS

Hyperyacht

Somewhere out off the coast of Italy, The GranTurismo Mediterranea hyperyacht or GTM is making waves as the 88-foot pleasure vessel’s 6,600 horsepower engines spin up to answer the full-throttle command from the controls, her bow lifts and she launches accelerating to a pulse-pounding 70 knots (80 mph for you landlubbers).

The graceful craft is bedecked in a similar red and black finish, reminiscent of Ferrari’s Rosso Corsa red and even flatter’s its inspiration with a similar badge upon the bow and gullwing doors to a cockpit inspired by a Ferrari racer situated above the main saloon and two double guest cabins with accommodation or three crewmen as well. A prominent rear spoiler also dominates the stern.

“We tried to imagine how a Ferrari of the seas would look,” the Italian design studio said in a statement.

However, the right paint job, cool design features, and graceful lines are not all that make a Ferrari. The designer Lazzarini Design Studio of Rome has described their creation as a “hyperyacht”.

The Anatomy of a ‘Hyperyacht’

It definitely isn’t all in the look. Robb Report provided a fantastic breakdown of the engineering behind this marvel, check it out:

“The real highlight, though, is the folding transom on the aft deck. It can be used as either a sundeck or supercar garage for your Ferrari. Opt for the latter—good choice—and the platform can extend upwards and outwards while the boat is docked, allowing you to drive your prized ride onto dry land at the push of a button.

Aside from aesthetics, the Italian stallion is designed to run like a Ferrari, too. Described as a “hyperyacht,” the design prescribes a hybrid propulsion system featuring three MAN v-12 engines, an Arneson transmission and a central Hamilton Jet drive.”

“While the propellers are limited in steering, the jet will provide thrust in acceleration and turning degrees at high speeds,” the studio added.

Right now the GTM lives on the drawing board and in some beautiful renders that Lazzarini has posted to Youtube (definitely check it out) until some Ferrari enthusiast breathes life into the design and commissions the first vessel of her class.
