Luxury Grade Gifts For the Cannabis Connoisseur

cannabis

As this year’s gift giving season gets underway, LA Times points out that cannabis and “the ever-expanding world of tools and accouterments that key into it” is “firmly out of the closet.” If you want to make an impression on the ganja tokers in your life, here are a selection of top shelf accessories to consider.

Cannabis essential Køl 2.0 pipe

Now that marijuana is legal in more states, folks who spent decades smoking ditch weed are learning the ins-and-outs of concentrates and custom strain selection. Manufacturers are tooling up their machinery for space age cannabis smoking technology, too. Even the basic hash pipe has been re-imagined for the 21st century. Take the Køl 2.0 pipe for example. Høj (the Danish word for “high“) believes in all-minimalist Danish design. The Køl (cool) 2.0 pipe is “an aerodynamic, matte black chunk of aluminum about 6 inches long.

Actually, it’s “two chunks of aluminum, held together with rare earth magnets.” Inside is “a textured surface and a vortex shape” that “both rapidly cools the smoke and catches more of the impurities.” It ships with a titanium-coated stainless steel bowl screen and two spares. They also make a “Klip” grinder using stainless steel blades to cut, rather than tear, your favorite buds just right. They run around $100 on the Høj website.

Ditch the Shoe Box with Dabney

If the person you’re gift searching for is seriously into concentrates and a little dab won’t do for them, they would really appreciate “Dabney.” The LA based startup Apothecarry decided “it’s time to ditch the shoe box.” Cannabis concentrates deserve some class and distinction.

They offer a place to store your dab tools and accessories. Dabney provides lots of storage space in a “sturdy, handsome wooden case with a glass lid that showcases 24 clear, food-safe jars perfect for holding the various waxes, shatters, crumbles and oils that dabbers prize for their varying consistencies and colors.” There’s even an “LED light board embedded in the lid (powered by a 9V battery) that gives an extra punch of theatricality to the light-framed concentrate jars.” One will set you back $229 at Apothecarry.

Marley Natural cannabis bubbler

One step up from a basic hash pipe and a step down from a full size bong is the “bubbler.” Marley Natural knows ganja. They launched in 2016 as the “official Bob Marley cannabis brand,” and have a reputation for “thoughtfully designed, well-made smoking accessories.” One of them is this bubbler “crafted from handblown borosilicate glass and sustainably grown black walnut wood.

What they promise is “science-lab function and organic warmth with the heft in the hand of a luxe lighter or high-end writing implement.” They also note that “the parts unscrew easily for cleaning, which is a good thing because a piece this beautiful deserves to stay beautiful use after use.” They list for $120 through Marley Natural.

Puffco does it again

Another LA based company, Puffco, has a game-changing hand vaporizer for concentrates. Their Peak portable shattered all the rules along with annihilating brain cells everywhere they’re legal. This time they released a “modular vaporizer with steampunk vibes that aims to be the centerpiece of an entire cannabis consumption ecosystem.” The form factor is that of a “glass pipe-shaped mouthpiece that looks like something your grandfather might have puffed on in his study back in the day.” Grandpa might just love to puff on one of these now. “The heart and brains is a base unit about the size and shape of a film canister.

One of the design advantages is “a 3-D heating chamber, meaning it heats concentrates from the sides as well as the bottom for a better draw.” You aren’t limited to concentrates and waxes, either. They have “the option of swapping a flower bowl (sold separately) into the glass-pipe base so non-concentrated can be consumed all Sherlock Holmes-like.

Keeping cannabis simple and portable

Every active cannabis connoisseur needs gear for away from home. When you’re spending the day in outdoor recreation activities, all the usual equipment stays home. When all you want is the essentials but still want to do it in style, there’s nothing better than “a futuristic-looking cone of black-tinted borosilicate glass dimpled in a few strategic places to form a bowl, a carb and an ash-catcher near the mouthpiece.

The thing that will make you a hit with your friends on the next camping trip is the “silicone-carrying sleeve that slips completely over it, both disguising it and allowing it to be ported about with a fully packed bowl on board.” You can carry it on your keychain. The good news is that they’re only $48 through Session Goods.

Flora Nero hash globe

If the person on your gift list smokes walnut size hash lumps like Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman appears to, and you have an oil well or two of your own, the Flora Nero hash globe is the obvious choice. You’ll need those oil wells because this “hash under glass” set up comes with a hefty $2,800 price tag. It definitely isn’t for the average cannabis consumer. Called “Other_Worldly” and designed by creative director Marc Thorpe, it consists of “eight super-swanky pieces made of aluminum, glass and wood.

The setup “consists of a hand blown smoky gray glass globe with a tapered (removable) anodized aluminum mouthpiece that gives the whole thing a slightly Sputnik vibe. The open-bottom end of the globe sits over an aluminum base in which a tapered spike is centered.” Just like the old pin, matchbook, drinking glass and a straw days, pop a chunk on the spike and light it. “After it burns for a bit the glass is put back in place and the orb fills with smoke that can then be inhaled via the mouthpiece.” A few hits off that and you’ll get the same Cheshire grin as “prince happy cat.”
