I think we can say we’ve featured a few unique homes here on WB, but this one is definitely at the top of the list. A man was able to take his creativity to the max when he decided to take this plane and transform it into a gorgeous luxury home.
Have you ever dreamt of living in a unique home? What if that home was an airplane? Believe it or not, this is the reality for one pilot from Big Lake, Alaska. Jon Kotwicki has transformed a DC-6 air freighter into his very own luxury 2 bedroom and 1 bathroom house.
The best part is that he can make hundreds of dollars per night renting it out to guests on Airbnb.
The hallway leads to the master bedroom with enough room for a king-sized bed as well as a TV. A regular-sized toilet and shower are in the bathroom giving off more of a “home” feeling rather than being stuck in coach on an airplane.
There is also another guest bedroom fit with a queen-sized bed for two people.
At the end of the hall lies an open plan dining and lounge space with its original cargo door intact. It features furniture like couches, massage chairs, TVs, and even seats around 6 people at its dining table.
One special feature remains untouched -the cockpit! As if this weren’t enough, Kotwicki plans to add flight simulator software onto it so everyone has access to experiencing what flying feels like.
To take full advantage of warmer months, Kotwicki has converted the left wing into a deck area featuring a BBQ grill. In addition to this he hopes to install hot tub on the wing soon too – something we can all agree would be amazing when watching Northern Lights.
Not only does his home have spectacular mountain views but there is also room to park your Cessna right outside should you decide to fly there yourself.
The inspiration behind building such an incredible place came from trying to save money on lumber when constructing traditional homes. Utilizing half of what was already built (the plane) seemed like good idea since lumber was so expensive at that time . Plus who wouldn’t want their very own luxurious plane house.
