BBQ Garlic Butter Prawns

  • 24 pieces tiger prawns
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 1.5 oz butter
  • 1 red chili finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves finely chopped
  • 1 lemon
  • 1 tbsp parsley finely chopped
  • 1/4 tsp salt


Preparation of the prawns

  • If using bamboo skewers, soak in water to prevent them from burning for at least half an hour before starting to grill
  • Peel the prawn, leaving the tail intact, and then devein them
  • Place it on a flat surface. Run a very sharp small knife carefully across the prawn so that the body is divided into two attached halves
  • Combine olive oil, salt, and pepper, and mix well in a bowl. Add the prawns and let marinate

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • Place a medium-size pan on low heat and add the butter to melt
  • Add chopped garlic, chilies, chopped parsley, and salt to allow them to infuse


  • Preheat the grill to medium-high heat, thread the prawns onto the skewers
  • Place the skewers on the hot grill and cook each side for a minute
  • Remove the prawns from the skewers and toss them into garlicky butter and cook for another minute, or until opaque and white/pink
  • Sprinkle with lemon juice and serve immediately
